In 2008, Lerner Publishing Group launched Lerner Books UK with the publication of nearly 200 titles to fully align with the needs of teachers and librarians in the United Kingdom.

To formulate the most appropriate list for the British market, Lerner titles were carefully reviewed by teams of teachers and librarians in the UK, who verified each book's relevance to the National Curriculum and the Scottish Guidelines. The team deemed all of the titles in the initial 184-book collection ideal for use in British classrooms and libraries. To further ensure the offerings have the most current information and structures needed in UK classrooms, the books were updated and edited for publication by Discovery Books Ltd. in Shropshire.

'We are thrilled that we are able to work with UK teachers and librarians and international partners to select the best products and create titles to meet educational needs around the world. Lerner hired project manager Pat Shepherd - former Sales Director at Random House Children's Books UK, who has more than 15 years of educational editing and sales experience - to work with UK teachers and librarians and set up business partnerships. 'I am delighted to be working with such a prestigious list,' said Shepherd.

Sales and marketing services will be handled through Bounce Sales and Marketing Ltd for the UK and distribution will be through Grantham Book Services. The UK products will also be available internationally through INT Press Distribution in Australia and Phambili Agencies in South Africa.
